Overview

 

I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) www.imsg.com is currently seeking to hire a Senior Project Leader to support IMSG contracts with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) office.  

 

This position is located in Silver Spring, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical project lead for a team of 5-10 staff with diverse expertise’s, including communications, graphics, computer programming and systems engineering.
  • Provide scientific guidance to staff and other members of the NESDIS Office of the Chief of Staff.
  • Develop eye-catching and informative visualizations of NOAA data using a combination of analytical and graphics processing software.
  • Design strategies for delivering environmental information using websites, social media, and customized data applications.
  • Make presentations at national and international events to a wide variety of audiences, including the general public, educators, and scientific professionals.
  • Foster partnerships across NOAA and with informal education centers, such as museums and aquariums.
  • Serve as an advisor to the NOAA Education Council on using visualization and technology for formal and informal education.

 

Qualifications

  • BA, MS or PhD in an earth systems / environmental science field with considerable related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of environmental data, including satellite observations, weather prediction, climate modeling, and ecosystem assessment
  • Deep understanding in how to use visualization to communicate complex information, along with using best practices in visualization techniques
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, especially in handling large, technical projects
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience in data analysis and display using ArcGIS software
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and After Effects is highly desired
  • Ability to read and write JavaScript or Python is a plus
  • Must be a US Citizen
